18 including 16 Chatri Sangstha activists held at Narayangonj


Narayongonj: 18 people were arrested from Narayongonj Fatullah area including 16 members of Islami Chatri Sangstha (a female student Islamic organization). Among these, 6 members are from the same family. Police have confiscated some Islamic books from them.
 
Among the arrested were – the president of Islamic Chatri Sangstha from Fatullah branch and final year accounting student of Tolaram College Nasima Kefayet; her sister, an active member of Fatullah branch and student of Eden College, Fahima Kefayet; another sister who is the organisation’s general member Kaniz Fatema Keya; her brother Ruhul Amin who is a member of Shibir; mother Maleka Begum; step mother Nilufa Begum and Ahsan Ullah.
 
Apart from them, others arrested include grade 9 students of Buimghar Islamic Darunnesa Madrasha -Koli Akter, Mukta Akter, Ayesha Akter, Nasima Akter, Asma Akter, Saima Begum, Neela, Meherun Nesa, Nasrin Sultana, Narayongonj Girls College first year student Latifa Aktar and grade 9 student of Amirul Millat Madrasa, Urmi Akhter.
 
The police claim they raided the 4th floor of the building owned by Kefayet Ullah upon being informed of the meeting. They also confirmed that they arrested the president of Fatullah branch Nasima Kefayet, her two sisters, her mother and 16 other members of Chatri Sanstha and 2 members of Chatro Shibir from there.
 
The police confiscated some books authored by Professor Golam Azam, Sayid Abul Ala Maududi. Other confiscated items included some notes, member forms, calendars, note books and diaries.
 
Fatullah Police Chief Officer Akhter Hossain confirmed the details. He said," 18 people including females were arrested in a raid following secret information on their whereabouts. They were having a secret meeting with the intention to sabotage. 
 
Urmi Akhter, 9th grade student of Amirut Millah informed, they all live in rented houses at Buimghar area. Among them, only the family of Nasima owns their own house. They were all invited there to congratulate them on their excellent results in JSC (Junior school certificate) exam on Tuesday.
 

Families informed that all the students arrested were either "A" or “A+” grade recipients in their JSC examination.
 
Additional Police Super Sajjadur Rahman informed (reporters) at night, “Those arrested are being interrogated. After interrogation, cases will be filed against them. If anyone is found innocent, they will be released."
